Planting Trees at Millers Creek!
On Saturday, April 23, 2005 a group of neighborhood volunteers from Millers Creek area met a group of student volunteers from the University of Michigan to plant trees in Glacier Highlands Park. The volunteers braved the snow and sleet, not typical for the end of April, establishing sixteen new trees, including Redbud, Serviceberry, Maples, Oaks, and Dogwoods that will help soak up and reduce water flowing into Millers Creek.
Some volunteers will continue to take care of the trees until they become more fully established. Amy Knutilla, her daughter and her daughter's friend joined Lineke Zuiderweg to plant trees. The students were Keith McDade, Lan Builee and Dwight Davis. Photos are by Al Wooll and Keith McDade.
